The Dark Tower overlooks the Transfiguration Courtyard. At the top of the tower is a small cell where Sirius Black was held in 1994, before he was to receive the Dementor's Kiss. (This tower only appears in the film adaptations of Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, and was replaced by the Astronomy Tower in Half-Blood Prince.)
